Ronald Reagan On Nationalized Health Care

  Historical Moment

A baseball star, Billy Sunday played for the Chicago White Stockings (Sox) in the 1890's.

Born during the Civil War in a log cabin in Iowa, his father, a Union
Army soldier, died of pneumonia when Billy was a month old.

At age 15, he struck out on his own, working several jobs before
playing baseball.

His career took off and he became one of the most popular athletes in
the nation.

While recovering from a baseball injury in 1887, he heard a group of
gospel singers after leaving a Chicago saloon.

They invited him to their mission where he experienced a conversion.

He began attending YMCA meetings, quit drinking and got married. A
national sensation occurred FEBRUARY 17, 1889, when Billy Sunday
preached his first sermon as an evangelist in Chicago.

He went on to pioneer radio broadcasting so enthusiastically that the
FCC was formed in response.

During the next 46 years, till his death November 6, 1935, over 100
million people would hear him.

In his animated style, Billy Sunday said:

"Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than going to
a garage makes you an automobile."

  President's Day Tribute

As a tribute to President's Day, I thought I would tell a story.
It is a video, about 10 minutes long. Click Here To Enjoy

  Current Events

  • To honor the 50th Anniversary of the Barbie Doll, Mattel is making a toy doll to look like Angela Merkel, the leader of Germany. Now, I like Merkel, she is one of the few European leaders that I admire, but maybe the artists who designed the doll could be a little more accurate? Guess which is which....

  • 3 judges in California have ordered tens of thousands of prisoners to be let out of California prisons, they cited overcrowding. Gee, you think the crime rate may rise?

  • General Motors is going to invest one BILLION dollars in Brazil. Hey, wait in minute, didn't the taxpayers just give GM the money? and it goes to Brazil?

  • Another of my heroes, Meg Whitman, the founder of eBay, announced she will run for Governor of California. She says she is tired of California not being able to run efficiently. Arnold must step down in 2010.

  • The United Kingdom's Environmental Czar has suggested that the Brits MUST ration (only those we choose, can fly) air travel.........because of Global Warming.

  • An alcoholic went on a two day binge in Florida, then fell over 100 feet from the top of a hotel's fancy stairway.......He is now suing Marriot for selling him too much booze and having an unsafe staircase.

  • A disgruntled student has reported his MOTHER to the police and accused her of psychological torture.......Wow, what did she do to him?....Well, she made him clean his room, bathe at least ONCE a week, and asked him to help pay the rent................Oh, he is 22 years old.

  Current Events

  • President Obama Bumps His Head!
Now, I wonder if Saturday Night Live will portray him as a clutz, like GW?

  • 16 illegal immigrants are suing an Arizona rancher, because he would not let THEM cross HIS land.....(I can't make this stuff up)

  • Scientists claim that TVs will be put into contact lens within 10 years.

  • Psychosis experts claim that anxiety disorders are on the rise, because of Global Warming fears.

  • Australia is having terrible fires set by arsonists, now Islamic terrorists are encouraging more fires be set. Now how can the Aussies defend against that? How can we?

  • Budget watchdogs are predicting that Congress will eventually spend 9.7 TRILLION dollars in an attempt to "jump start" the economy. That is equal to having the government pay off 90% of all home mortgages in the country. So why not just do that? That would stimulate my budget.

  • The latest bailout bill is approaching over 800 BILLION dollars, which is MORE than the Iraq War and the Afghanistan War COMBINED!!

Mr. Slinger's Science Trip 1982? Mr.T is at the far right, with total disregard for his own personal safety, he is evening out the weight in the boat. Most of the others are NHS Super Students.

The Golden Apple Award.

The story I wrote, explaining the event to my family.

Be A Thinker, Not A Stinker!!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You....
The faculty of Tryon University is honored and humbled to have been nominated and chosen as the recipient of Allied Insurance and WHO TV's Golden Apple Award. Even though the TV story only appeared for a couple of minutes, early in the morning, many old friends and colleagues have been contacting me in disbelief. I would like to thank all of those who cheered, clapped and shook my hand that day, it was a memory I will cherish forever. Words could never express my gratitude. No, I have not sold it yet on eBay. Yes, it was such a shock, I was speechless, which as you know is very rare. Thanks again for all of the nice things said by the wonderful students of NHS.
